Pagani Zonda R
The Pagani Zonda and its several variants are already among the most spectacular and unique style of super cars in the world, but founder Horacio Pagani has more ambitious plans for the car in the new Zonda R. First in lat2 2007, Pagani released all the details to the car after its debut in Vienna on January 15, and now added to the data with a new selection of photos. Powered by a variant of the hot 7.3L AMG V12 engine which present in other Zonda models, the R model is an exercise in extremes - extremes of design, materials and extreme performance. Although the car has not yet taken to the track - at least publicly - their heavier, less powerful
stablemate Zonda F lapped the Nurburgring posting a lap time of 7:27.82. However, while the Zonda F was designed from the beginning as a road car, the new Zonda R was designed with one purpose in mind - the best performance on the track without any implications of rules, except for safety everything else is allowed. In September 2006 the first drawings were ready, but it is essential to have the support of Mercedes-AMG high-revving engine with a power output of 750hp (560kW) which will make it faster then the ultra fast
motorcycles, dry sump lubrication, low weight and low center of gravity. Peak torque is estimated at a healthy 524 lb-ft (710Nm). Further modifications to the engine are carbon fiber high-flow intake, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch, and an F1-style exhaust system. The Zonda R is a car designed from scratch, with only 10% of the Zonda F components may be carried over. Forged suspension, a redesigned six-speed sequential gearbox cross a monocoque carbon fiber body and aeronautical four pump fuel tank. The wheelbase has increased by 47mm, the total length of 394mm and the track is increased by 50 mm. The bodywork and aerodynamics have been modified to provide the maximum aerodynamic load. Other features include performance tires, forged magnesium wheels with a wheel nut and a quick pneumatic lifting system. The new bodywork has been developed to provide high load low speed, even in the corners. The longer front hood with flaps, closing the bottom and rear overhang with adjustable rear wing and race derived diffusor, all work to improve the aerodynamics. Pagani is to reveal details of production costs , but suggested that retail price may be more than € 1.2 million or roughly $1.8 million dollars.
